About this engine

The F1A engine with 2,287 cm³, Euro 5 and 106–148 hp. In the 2011–2016 Fiat Ducato it is the 110, 130 or 150 Multijet, in the 2011–2014 Iveco Daily the 2.3 HPI/HPT.

Do not confuse it with the older F1AE0481 (Euro 3 and 4), which it replaced in the Fiat Ducato in June 2011, or with the newer F1AGL411 (Euro 6). The 2.3 JTD name belongs to the 2002–2006 Ducato with the F1AE0481.

What workshops ask. The F1A has a toothed timing belt; when the engine is replaced, the workshop fits a new timing kit unless it comes with the engine. In the ADAC breakdown statistics for the 2014–2016 Fiat Ducato 130 Multijet, the parts around the engine that appear are the EGR, turbo, boost pressure control and diesel particulate filter. None of them is part of the long block or short block: the workshop moves the turbo and EGR valve over from the old engine, and the particulate filter stays in the exhaust. If the cause of the failure was there, it has to be fixed before fitting.

  • Reuse parts from your old engine. A turbo, injectors or alternator that are still fine move over to the long block or short block.
