How it works for workshops

From quote request to fitting. At every step you know what comes next and when.

  1. VIN and engine code

Enter the vehicle's VIN and the engine code in the request. If you don't have the code, write “don't know” and we will find it from the VIN. Where to find the engine code

  2. Engine type

Choose a complete engine, long block or short block. If you are still deciding, pick “Other / Not sure” and we will price all three.

  3. Quote

We email the price, the shipping cost, availability, the delivery date and what the chosen type includes for that vehicle, typically within 1 hour during business hours. Prices exclude VAT.

  4. Delivery to the workshop

Once you accept the quote, we issue a proforma invoice for 50%. We deliver the engine within 5 working days of receiving the advance payment. The delivery address can be your workshop even if the invoice goes to a different address. The remaining 50% is due on delivery.

  5. Fitting

You fit the engine. The warranty applies when the engine is fitted correctly according to the manufacturer's procedures, with new engine oil and new filters.

Fitting

Workshop checklist

Short general recommendations that do not replace the procedures of the engine or vehicle manufacturer. Pass the running-in points on to the customer when you hand the vehicle back.

Before fitting

  • The cause of the old engine's failure has been fixed.
  • Heat exchangers that carry oil have been replaced and the radiators are not clogged.
  • The turbo has been checked and its oil feed and return lines are new.
  • The water pump, timing kit and oil pump are new.
  • New oil and filters, with oil and coolant to the manufacturer's specification.

After fitting

  • Short idle: oil pressure is correct and nothing leaks.
  • No warning lights and no fault codes in the engine control unit.
  • The cooling system is bled and the fan has cut in. If it does not cut in and the temperature goes above 90–95 °C, switch the engine off immediately.
  • The coolant level has been topped up after the engine cooled down.

Running-in: tell the customer

  • For the first 1,000 km, no sustained full-load driving and no long stretches at a constant engine speed.
  • Check the oil and coolant roughly every 1,000 km.
  • Change the oil and filters after the first 3,000 km.

Which engine type suits your workshop

All three types are new engines. They differ in how many parts you transfer from the old engine and how long fitting takes.

Type When to choose it Fitting
Short block The workshop can remove the cylinder head, injectors and other accessories from the old engine and fit them to the new one. The head must be in good condition, with no overheating and no worn valves. The lowest purchase price. 14–22 h
Long block The most common case. The turbo, injectors and alternator are fine, but the block or the head is destroyed. You get a new cylinder head, valves and camshafts. 8–14 h
Complete engine The workshop has no parts of its own, the customer needs the vehicle back as soon as possible, or the original engine is completely destroyed, for example seized. It arrives ready to fit. 4–8 h

What each type includes and the fitting times are indicative. They depend on the make, the generation and the workshop's equipment. We send exactly what the chosen type includes with the quote, based on the VIN and engine code.
