About this engine

The 2.2 HDi Euro 4 engine with 2,198 cm³. It is the Ford Duratorq “Puma”, listed by PSA as P22DTE. From 2006 it was used as the 2.2 HDi 100 and 120 in the Citroën Jumper and Peugeot Boxer, and as the 100 Multijet in the 2006–2011 Fiat Ducato.

Do not confuse it with the 2019–2023 2.2 BlueHDi: that is a different engine, the PSA DW12RU with 2,179 cm³. The 2006–2011 Ducato 120 Multijet has the 2.3 engine, not the 2.2.

What workshops ask. Injectors are a recurring issue on the “Puma” engine. Neither the long block nor the short block includes the injectors or turbo; the workshop moves them over from the old engine, so their condition needs checking before fitting. If the cause of the failure was in them, a new engine will not fix it.
